Roof terraces / artificial grass
Rooftop artificial grass in Dubai
Turn a suitable roof surface into a more inviting space without losing sight of what sits underneath. Waterproofing, drainage and safe access come before the grass.

Artificial grass can add a finished appearance to a roof terrace or an accessible villa roof. Unlike a garden installation over soil, a roof installation has an existing waterproofing layer, outlets and equipment that must remain protected and accessible.
We consider the layout and underlying roof together. Covering a leaking membrane, trapping water beneath the turf or blocking an inspection point can turn a decorative improvement into a maintenance problem. The right answer may be to repair the roof first, use grass only in selected areas or choose not to cover it.
A suitable project starts with these checks
- A roof already intended for the proposed access and use
- A sound waterproofing layer, or an agreed repair scope before covering it
- Drainage paths that remain open beneath and around the finish
- Clear maintenance routes to AC equipment, outlets and other installations
- A layout that considers edges, wind exposure and removal for future inspection
Assessing the surface
The roof must still work as a roof.
We assess the visible membrane condition, falls, outlets and access before discussing turf samples. Where the existing roof construction or load capacity is uncertain, confirmation from an appropriately qualified professional may be needed before changing how the space is used.
The proposed turf backing, protection and drainage arrangement must suit the membrane beneath it. Fixing methods should not damage waterproofing or prevent essential inspection. Planting, furniture and stored items introduce separate load and access considerations.
How the work runs, step by step.
- 01
Assess the roof and intended use
Review access, membrane condition, drainage and the area you want to finish; identify anything that requires specialist confirmation.
- 02
Resolve underlying issues
Agree any waterproofing repairs or preparation before the grass conceals the surface.
- 03
Plan and install the finish
Use an agreed protection, drainage and fixing approach while retaining access to roof details and equipment.
- 04
Explain ongoing care
Review cleaning, accessible outlets and inspection points, including what to check after rain or work on rooftop equipment.
Artificial grass is a finish, not waterproofing.
- Turf cannot stop leaks or correct poor roof falls. Those problems must be assessed separately.
- An unused roof is not automatically a safe roof terrace. Access, edge protection and structural suitability need confirmation.
- Artificial grass can become hot in direct sun. Do not assume it makes a roof comfortable for bare feet at every time of day.
- Added planters, furniture and irrigation must be assessed separately; they are not included automatically with turf.
- Drain covers, inspection points and maintenance paths must remain accessible rather than being permanently concealed.
What affects price and time
- Area and layout
- Existing waterproofing condition
- Protection and drainage arrangement
- Turf specification
- Edges and fixing details
- Roof access and material handling

Rooftop artificial grass in Dubai: common questions
Not as a general rule. The existing membrane, grass backing and proposed fixing method must be compatible. We assess whether a protection or drainage layer is needed rather than recommend one build-up for every roof.
That depends on the whole arrangement, including turf backing, the layers beneath it, roof falls and accessible outlets. A permeable grass product alone does not guarantee that the roof will drain correctly.
We can assess the roof and propose an appropriate waterproofing scope where needed. Repair, application and curing requirements should be agreed before installing a decorative covering.
Our roof decoration offering focuses on artificial grass and suitable planting. Structural design, major landscaping, pergolas or a complete terrace conversion should not be assumed to be included; tell us the intended scope so we can clarify what is suitable.
Remove debris, follow the turf supplier’s cleaning guidance and keep drainage and equipment access clear. The installation should allow the underlying roof and critical details to be inspected when required.
